Loreto is the Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) sportfishing capital of the world. Daily costs are around $130/day with three person max. for a panga. Quaint, beautiful little town with great restaurants and many activities, including fishing, kayaking, snorkeling & diving, visiting the three offshore islands and the one sea-lion colony. Also available are seasonal whale watching tours and off road tours to ancient rock art and petroglyph sites and missions. The town has many shops with great prices for browsing and shopping during the evenings when not out on the water. The Bahia Concepcion (Conception Bay)is one hour north and Puerto Escondido is just 20 minutes south. Both are stunningly beautiful bays with warm water and just about every water related opportunity/activity there is. A private gym is 1/2 block away and open fruit and vegetable stands are just down the street as well. A laundry is also across the street with extremely reasonable rates and great service. Everything is very convenient, and for most activities locally, no car is needed. Car rentals are available, however; if desired, downtown. |
