Enjoy your holidays at this modern and comfortable flat!Inside the flat: This flat is equipped with a telephone, microwave, oven and hob (stove), fridge, freezer, washer and dryer, TV and DVD player with DVD library, wireless DSL, and secure video entry-phone. The flat rental includes all linens, towels, and cutlery.
The location: The flat is conveniently located just across the street from the Tower of London and next to the beautiful and historic Trinity Square Gardens. Just a minute's walk from the Tower Hill tube stop, and approximately three minutes from the Tower Gateway DLR, you'll find this flat the ideal London base from which to explore London!
Local Attractions: Many points of historic interest, including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Roman Wall(s). Also located in 'The City' or financial district, so the area is considered very safe, even for walking around late at night. Due to the flat's proximity to the tube station (and being within Zone One and on the Circle and District Lines), you can hop on and quickly be near any major attraction in central London: Buckingham Palace, Churchill's War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington Palace. Just across the street, in addition to the Tower of London, is All Hallows by the Tower, a 1,500 year old church that has import for American as well as British history – William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized in the church as an infant, and John Quincy Adams, America’s 6th President and son of John Adams, America’s 2nd President, was married there in 1797.There are many pubs and restaurants within a one or two minute walk. The Hung, Drawn and Quartered Pub is just across Great Tower Street next to All Hallows by the Tower (church). If that one doesn't appeal, there are three other British pubs, a French restaurant (Chez Gerard), and an upscale restaurant (Foxtrot Oscar) within a lazy one minute walk. If you're willing to walk a bit further (5-10 minutes), you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants, including Indian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and many others. One not to miss is Dickens Inn (a former hanging ground for pirates) at St Katherine's Docks, London's best-kept secret! The docks also host a small marina and many quaint cafes, shops and restaurants of all price ranges. If you choose to walk east about 10-15 minutes, you'll find yourself in London's East End, and perhaps at Petticoat Lane which is famous for its excellent Indian food! I highly recommend the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour of the East End, held at night and starting from the Tower Hill tube, just about a minute (if that) from the flat. Also nearby (meaning under 15 minute walk) is St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The City (financial district), St Katherine's Dock, Shad Thames (riverwalk area with more restaurants and pubs), Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hinde, the HMS Belfast, and the Globe.Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is a pleasant walk across Tower Bridge near Vinopolis, a wine museum with a lovely restaurant with wine tasting. (The theatre and restaurant are ideal for a unique dinner and show experience as part of a memorable and romantic weekend.)
Sleeping Arrangements: This flat is perfect for a couple or a small family. There is a bed (British Double, which is about the same size as an American Queen) in the upstairs bedroom (see photo). There is also a very large and comfy sofa which is six foot two inches between the armrests and which makes up nicely into a twin bed if desired. In addition there is a Queen-size "Aero-Mattress" is available for guests' use. (However I feel morally obligated to add that if you are a group of five adults, it would be a bit of a squeeze! I have had several groups of 5 adults stay here in the past, but it is tight.) |
